The turtles! Also we enjoyed the birds, the scenery and meeting local people. The quick tour of Tobago on our stop-over was also good.
The Grand Riviere hatchlings were amazing. Pitch Lake was incredible.

Hotels for 'Day Walks in Trinidad'
Day 1
Alicia's Palace
St Ann's
This is the sister property to Alicia's Guest House. It is perched high on a hill top in the upmarket, leafy suburb of St Ann's. It has 30 air conditioned rooms all with private bathroom and easy access to the swimming pool, terrace and sundeck. Breakfast is served on the verandah which offers a magnificent view over Port of Spain to the Gulf of Paria. As the hotel ranges over a steep site there are a lot of steps around the property. It would be a 15 minute walk down from the Palace to Queen's Park Savannah but happily the hotel offers a frequent shuttle bus service to their sister property - just 2 mins walk from the park.
Days 2 - 3
Laguna Mar Hotel
Blanchisseuse
The most established small hotel in Blanchisseuse, with its own access to the breathtaking Marianne Beach, whose sands stretch for 2km, and the lagoon of the Marianne River - an attractive freshwater lake behind the beach which is an alternative place to swim.
Its 12 rooms have two double beds, fan, bathroom and wide balcony. The dining room is a prettily converted cacao drying building, with tables inside and out. It is a 2 km walk, along the magnificent beach or by a small road, to the rest of the village.
Day 6
Tradewinds
San Fernando
This hotel has 37 tiled rooms. All have ensuite bathrooms, a/c and ceiling fan, direct international dialling, cable television, mini-bars and safes and most rooms have free Internet access. Executive rooms are equipped with kitchenettes. There is a swimming pool, gym and restaurant.
