Kariwak Village
Crown Point

In this individualistic hotel, Allan and Cynthia Clovis set out to create a holistic environment for guests’ mind, body and spirit. Clearly their clients feel the benefit as many return year after year. Even the Dalai Lama stayed here.
There are 24 tasteful ground level bedrooms. Children up to 12 yrs stay free (there is a charge for meals); cots can be provided.
Set in the compact well-tended grounds are a small swimming pool, freshwater ponds, thatched dinning room, jacuzzi and waterfall, amid tropical flowers, shrubs and trees. Set menus emphasise wholesome Caribbean cooking without additives.
The garden also holds a large thatched, open sided ajoupa where qualified instructors hold 3 classes a week in Hatha Yoga, Tai Qi, and Qi Gong. There are gentle stretching exercises 3 mornings a week. None require experience; all ages are welcome free of charge. Ayurvedic Marma therapy and Shiatsu massage can be booked at extra cost. The hotel is an active centre for local arts, entertainment, and self-improvement and therapeutic workshops.
Store Bay, the nearest beach, is an 8min walk away. Pigeon Point is an 8min drive away; a vehicle leaves for Pigeon Point each morning at 10am, returning at 4pm.
Hotels in the southern tip of Tobago, like the Kariwak, receive aircraft noise early in the morning (mostly propeller planes rather than jets). This doesn’t seem to inconvenience guests, and did not trouble us when we stayed there.
