Designer's notes
Lots of fascinating, less well-known, places make this a great second trip to Peru, or for travellers who like to step away from the more usual routes. Cajamarca-where the great Inca Atahualpa was captured by a handful of Spanish conquistadors, the fearsome citadel of Kuelap above valleys rich in pre-Incan sites, and the pyramids of the desert kingdoms of the coast. Stride out to Gocta Falls (2.5 times the height of the Shard) and relax in nature at Chaparri. Lots of travelling. Only practicable between May and September.
