Cristalino Jungle Lodge
Cristalino Jungle Lodge is situated by the Cristalino river nestled in a private rainforest reserve in the Southern Amazon. The region is recognized as an important area of the Amazon in terms of biodiversity and is one of the richest places in the Amazon for observing birds, mammals, butterlies and orchids in a primary forest environment and there are a great variety of endemic species. The lodge forest reserve is located just beyond the borders of the Cristalino State Park, an extremely important conservation area covering 456,800 acres comprising six distinct types of rainforest - evergreen, deciduous, semi-deciduous, riparian, campinarana and floodplain. Over 600 species of bird, 2,000 species of butterfly and 40 mammals including tapir, monkey and giant river otter have been spotted in the area.
There are 18 bungalows and rooms decorated in a modern minimalist style using natural materials with sustainable design features such ceiling air vents (no need for A/C), solar powered energy and effluent systems which treat all waste water. Room amenities include luxury linens, private bathrooms with showers, wifi and Granado bath products. Some larger rooms and bungalows have features such as private gardens and outdoor bathtubs.
Facilities at the lodge include a restaurant specialising in Brazilian cuisine using organic ingredients with an Amazonian/gourmet twist, bar with open firepit area, a conference/living room which is used for presentations and meeting, reading room, a floating dock over the river with rocking chairs, loungers and hammocks, two 50m high observation towers, more than 30km of rainforest trails.
Guests are taken on daily shared guided nature viewing excursions with specialist English-speaking naturalist guides in groups of 6-8 people.
